Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 28/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald will move over northeast NSW tonight, reach the Illawarra coast early tomorrow morning, then move rapidly to the southeast during the day. Widespread rain and locally heavy falls are associated with this system along with gale force winds along the coast and large seas. A weak trough will persist over northeastern parts of the state Wednesday, then strengthen Thursday and Friday as the next cold front approaches.
Forecast for the rest of MondayHeavy rain in the northeast and about the central part of the coast and adjacent ranges, gradually easing from the north. Scattered showers or rain areas on the south coast and ranges, and isolated showers and thunderstorms about the adjacent western slopes. Mostly clear in the far west. East to northeast winds in the east, reaching gale force near the northern half of the coast. Southerly winds in the west. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Tuesday 29 JanuaryRain areas on southern and central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges, locally heavy, but easing during the day. Isolated showers on the north coast and ranges and about the western slopes of the southern ranges with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Northeast winds tending southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Wednesday 30 JanuaryIsolated showers in the northeast and possibly along the southern coast. Possible afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds. Dangerous surf conditions.Thursday 31 JanuaryIsolated showers in the northeast tending scattered along the far north coast and ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds before a gusty southwesterly change in the southwest.Friday 1 FebruaryIsolated showers in eastern districts, tending scattered about the southern and central coast and ranges later. Possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the east.
