Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald over southeastern Queensland with a trough across eastern New South Wales is slowly moving south while a high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the northeast directing moist winds into this trough. The two systems are bringing heavy rain to the northeast. During Monday Ex-Tropical Cyclone will enter New South Wales and heavy rain will contract to the central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges. On Tuesday Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald is expected to move over the southwestern Tasman Sea and rain is expected to ease.
Forecast for the rest of MondayHeavy rain areas along the north and central coasts and adjacent ranges, gradually easing from the north. Scattered showers on the south coast and ranges, and isolated showers about the western slopes. Partly cloudy in the far west. East to northeast winds in the east, reaching gale force near the northern half of the coast. Southerly winds in the west. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Fire Danger -  Very High in Central Ranges, Northern Slopes, Northern Riverina and Far WesternTuesday 29 JanuaryHeavy rain easing on the south and central coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Mainly southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Wednesday 30 JanuaryIsolated showers in the northeast tending scattered near the coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds. Dangerous surf conditions.Thursday 31 JanuaryIsolated showers in the northeast tending scattered along the far north coast and ranges. Isolated showers possible along the southern border later. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds before a gusty southwesterly change in the southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
