MELBOURNE - Jan 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will deepen over eastern Victoria on Monday while a cold front crosses Tasmania and Bass Strait. A high pressure ridge will briefly build over southern Victoria on Tuesday as ex-tropical cyclone Oswald moves southwards along the NSW coast and should lie east of Bass Strait by Tuesday night. A high pressure ridge will extend across Victoria once again on Wednesday as a cold front approaches western Victoria late in the day. The front should move eastwards across most of Victoria on Thursday introducing colder southwesterly winds. Forecast for the rest of SundayAreas of drizzle over East Gippsland, fine in the remainder. Light southerly winds.Monday 28 JanuaryShowers and thunderstorms in the east. Isolated showers developing in remaining southern districts. Fine in the remainder. A cool to mild day with a moderate to locally fresh south to southwesterly wind.Fire Danger - Low to moderate in Gippsland, high to very high in the remainder.Tuesday 29 JanuaryShowers over the east, easing and contracting to the far east later. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Wednesday 30 JanuaryIsolated morning showers in East Gippsland. Mild near the coast, warmer inland with light to moderate westerly winds and afternoon seabreezes.Thursday 31 JanuaryScattered showers extending eastwards across the State.
