Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 26/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over eastern Bass Strait will move into the Tasman Sea this morning as a weak low forms east of Tasmania. A cold front will cross Tasmania and Bass Strait on Monday. A high pressure ridge will briefly build over southern Victoria on Tuesday as ex-tropical cyclone Oswald moves southwards along the NSW coast and should lie east of Bass Strait Tuesday night. A high pressure ridge will extend across Victoria once again on Wednesday as a cold front approaches western Victoria late in the day.
Forecast for the rest of SundayAreas of drizzle over the south contracting to East Gippsland in the afternoon. Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms developing over the far east, clearing in the early afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny over the northwest. A generally cool to mild day with light to moderate southerly winds locally fresh at times near the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Low to Moderate in Gippsland, High elsewhere.Monday 28 JanuaryShowers and isolated thunderstorms in the east. Isolated showers in the southwest. Fine in the remainder. A cool to mild day with a moderate to locally fresh south to southwesterly wind.Tuesday 29 JanuaryRain areas easing over East Gippsland and isolated showers in remaining southern areas. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Wednesday 30 JanuaryIsolated morning showers in East Gippsland and isolated showers in the southwest. Mild near the coast, warmer inland with light to moderate westerly winds and afternoon seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
