MELBOURNE - Jan 26/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald over southeastern Queensland with a trough across eastern New South Wales is slowly moving south while a high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the northeast directing moist winds into this trough. The two systems are bringing heavy rain to the north coast and ranges, menwhile an upper-level trough brings an unsettled conditionsto the southeast. Later on Sunday or early Monday Ex-Tropical Cyclone will move over central parts of the coast and heavy rain will contract to the soouthern half of the coast and ranges. On Tuesday Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald is expected to move over the southwestern Tasmn Sea and rain is expected to ease. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine and partly cloudy across the western inland. Rain in the northeast with local heavy falls. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere tending scattered in the southeast. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Sunday 27 JanuaryRain areas along the north coast and adjacent ranges, with local heavy fall. Scattered showers remainder coast and ranges, and isolated showers about the western slopes. Partly cloudy in the far west. East to northeasterly winds in the east, strengthening near the northern coast. Southerly winds in the west. Dangerous surf conditions developing along the coast.Fire Danger - Very High in the Far Western.Monday 28 JanuaryRain areas along the north and central coasts and adjacent ranges with local heavy falls, gradually easing from the north. Scattered showers on the south coast and ranges, and isolated showers about the western slopes. Partly cloudy in the far west. East to northeast winds in the east, strong to gale force near the northern coast. Southerly winds in the west. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Tuesday 29 JanuaryShowers in the east, tending scattered near the coast. Partly cloudy in the west. Mainly southeast to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong near the coast.Wednesday 30 JanuaryIsolated showers coast and adjacent ranges, possibly extending to the northwest slopwes. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
