MELBOURNE - Jan 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strengthening high over the southern Tasman Sea directs humid east to northeasterly winds across the state. A trough, currently over South Australia, will move into western parts of the state during Friday. Unsettled conditions will increase in central and southeastern parts during Saturday as the trough interacts with an upper-level feature. Meanwhile, a tropical low is slowly moving along the Queensland coast towards New South Wales, and is expected to generate heavy rain about northern coastal districts during the second half of the weekend. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers about northern coast, possibly extending to the central coast and northwest slopes. The chance of thunderstorms on the north coast. Afternoon showers developing in the far southeast, with possible thunderstorms, chiefly near the Victorian border. East to northeasterly winds, and a southerly change in the west, reaching the far southeast overnight.Fire Danger - Very High: Riverina, Upper Western, Lower Western, South Coast.Saturday 26 JanuaryFine and partly cloudy across the western inland. Showers and thunderstorms about the central inland and over the southeast, increasing during the afternoon. Isolated showers in the northeast, increasing near the coast later. Southerly winds in the south and west. East to northeasterly winds elsewhere, freshening near the coast.Sunday 27 JanuaryRain areas along the north coast and adjacent ranges, with heavy falls possible. Scattered showers remainder coast and ranges, and isolated showers about the western slopes. Fine in the far west. East to northeasterly winds in the east, strengthening near the northern coast. Southerly winds in the west.Monday 28 JanuaryRain areas along the northern coast and adjacent ranges, with heavy falls likely. Scattered showers remainder coast and ranges, and isolated showers about the western slopes. Fine in the far west. East to northeast winds in the east, strong to gale force near the northern coast.
