MELBOURNE - Jan 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea. A cold front will approach the State tonight before entering southwestern Victoria during the early hours of Friday. The front will extend to central and eastern areas during Friday morning and afternoon. A low pressure trough will linger near eastern Victoria over the weekend On Monday a cold front will cross Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds and coastal seabreezes.Friday 25 JanuaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing over eastern areas. Isolated showers elsewhere although fine over the northwest. Warm to hot in the north and east at first. A cooler fresh and gusty west to southwesterly change extending from the west early in the morning to be through central districts by the afternoon and clearing eastern districts in the evening.Fire Danger - Very High, reaching Severe in the Central, Mallee and Wimmera districts.Saturday 26 JanuaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over the east, mainly in the afternoon, tending to rain in the far east later. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Sunday 27 JanuaryScattered showers and thunderstorms in the east, mainly during the morning. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas clearing during the afternoon. Fine over the northwest.
