MELBOURNE - Jan 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will move across the west of the State during this afternoon and evening, reaching a line Coober Pedy to Adelaide around midnight and the far northeast corner by Friday afternoon. A large near stationary high southwest of Perth will maintain a cool to mild southerly airstream over the State during the long weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayHigh cloud increasing from the west with isolated showers about the Nullarbor Plain and western coasts this evening. Mainly moderate northeast to northwest winds, ahead of a milder, fresh to strong southwest to southerly change in the far west early afternoon, reaching a line Coober Pedy to Adelaide around midnight. Winds may reach Gale Force in the west with the initial passage of the change then moderating. Areas of raised dust in the west with the change.Friday 25 JanuaryIsolated morning showers about southern coasts. Possible morning showers south of about Keith to Wudinna, clearing from the west early. Possible early morning thunder over the Lower South East district. Areas of raised dust over parts of the pastoral districts. Fine elsewhere. Very hot in the far northeast with light to moderate northeasterly winds. Cooler fresh to strong south to southwesterly over the remainder, easing to moderate to fresh southerly in the afternoon and extending throughoutSaturday 26 JanuaryPossible isolated light showers about southern and western coasts clearing in the afternoon. Cool in the south, grading to warm in the north, with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Sunday 27 JanuaryPossible isolated light showers re-developing about southern coasts and parts of the Gulf Waters coasts early morning before contracting south and clearing by evening. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the north with moderate southerly winds, fresh at times.Monday 28 JanuaryIsolated showers over southern coasts and Kangaroo Island with possible showers extending over the remainder of the southern agricultural area and western coasts. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southerly winds.
