Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 23/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will pass to the south of Tasmania tonight before crossing the southern Tasman Sea on Thursday. A cold front will approach the State Thursday night before entering southwestern Victoria during the early hours of Friday. The front will extend to central and eastern areas during Friday morning and afternoon. A low pressure trough will linger over northeastern Victoria on Saturday before deepening on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. Areas of smoke affecting parts of central and eastern districts. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong at times near the coast.Thursday 24 JanuaryFine. Areas of smoke affecting parts of central and eastern districts. A warm to hot day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds becoming locally fresh in the west at night. Afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Very HighFriday 25 JanuaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing over eastern areas. Isolated showers elsewhere although fine over the northwest. Warm to hot in the north and east at first. A cooler fresh and gusty west to southwesterly change extending from the west early in the morning to be through central districts by the afternoon and clearing eastern districts in the evening.Saturday 26 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the east, mainly in the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Sunday 27 JanuaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east, tending to rain over East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas. Fine over the northwest. A cool to mild day with a light to moderate southerly wind, freshening near the coast during the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
