MELBOURNE - Jan 22/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough extends from northwestern to central New South Wales. This trough will move to the northeast on Wednesday as a cold front crosses the southern Tasman Sea and a high pressure system moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge along the southern coast behind the front. During Thursday the high will move over the southern Tasman Sea strengthening the ridge to the north coast while the trough weakens. Another front/trough system is expected to move through the state from Friday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPartly cloudy in the far northwest and in the south. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. South to southeast winds.Thursday 24 JanuaryIsolated showers and afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast and possibly on the central coast and ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot in the far west. East to northeast winds.Friday 25 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the northeast with isolated showers near the far north coast. The chance of showers or thunderstorms elsewhere, more likely in the far southeast. Northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a southerly change in the west and southeast.Saturday 26 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the southwest. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere.
