MELBOURNE - Jan 19/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough lies over northeast New South Wales, while a high south of the Bight extends a ridge across Tasmania. As this high moves to the Tasman Sea on Sunday, a ridge will strengthen along the New South Wales coast. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine and partly cloudy over the southern inland. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered about the northern ranges and adjacent western slopes with thunderstorms. Southeast to southwesterly winds through most districts.Sunday 20 JanuaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over the northern inland, locally heavy. Showers and thunderstorms about much of the remainder of the northeast half of the state, more widespread and possibly locally heavy along the north coast. Fine and partly cloudy along the far south coast and in the southwest. Morning fog patches in the east. Southeast to northeast winds.Monday 21 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the north and east. Fine in the southwest. Northeast to southeast winds.Tuesday 22 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the north and east. Fine in the southwest. Hot day in the far west. Northeast to southeast winds before a southerly change in the south.Wednesday 23 JanuaryIsolated showers in the east, more widespread in the northeast where thunderstorms are possible.
