Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front has moved across Victoria associated with a deep low pressure system south of Tasmania. The cooler southwesterly flow in its wake will extend across northeast Victoria by this evening. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Saturday and extend a ridge across Victoria over the weekend. Another high pressure system will develop over the Tasman Sea on Monday and a weak inland trough will linger over the northeast. A cold front will cross Tasmania on Tuesday as another high pressure system develops over the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of FridayGenerally dry. Just the chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms about the north and east clearing during the evening. Areas of smoke haze over Gippsland. Becoming cooler in the northeast with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds extending throughout and easing.Saturday 19 JanuaryIsolated showers possible in the south during the morning, mainly near the coast. Areas of smoke haze over Gippsland. Mild and partly cloudy in the south but warmer and mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate southerly winds.Fire Danger -  High to Very High.Sunday 20 JanuaryEarly cloud in the south then a sunny day throughout. Warm inland with generally light southeast winds. Milder near the coast with freshening afternoon seabreezes.Monday 21 JanuaryIsolated afternoon showers or thunderstorms possible near the eastern ranges. Otherwise a warm to hot and mostly sunny day with light winds tending moderate westerly in the afternoon. Milder near the coast with moderate to fresh afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 22 JanuaryIsolated showers developing about the southwest coast during the afternoon and evening. A generally sunny day with moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh at times near the coast. Warm inland and milder near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
