Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over the Tasman Sea will be slow moving ahead of a cold front moving northeastwards across the west and far south of the State late Thursday and reaching Marree late Friday. A high will move to south of the Bight on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast corner. A warm evening. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Thursday 17 JanuaryVery hot. The chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon northeast of about Marla to Marree. Isolated showers developing over the Nullarbor in the evening, reaching the far west of Kangaroo Island towards midnight. Moderate to fresh northerly winds tending northwesterly ahead of a cooler fresh to strong south to southwesterly change extending across the Nullarbor in the afternoon and reaching Tarcoola to Adelaide in the evening.Friday 18 JanuaryIsolated showers extending across most of the State, increasing to scattered towards parts of the Northern Territory border, clearing in the south and west during the morning and contracting to northeast of about Woomera by late evening. Isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Coober Pedy to Hawker. Very hot in the northeast with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds. Milder with moderate to fresh southerly winds over the remainder.Saturday 19 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms northeast of Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek. Showers increasing to scattered over parts of the North East Pastoral district. Fine elsewhere. Mild to warm in the south, hot in the north. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Sunday 20 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the northern pastoral districts. Fine elsewhere. Warm to hot with moderate southeasterly winds and afternoon sea breezes. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be up to 2 mm in the south, and 5 to 10 mm over much of the northeast with local falls of up to 20 mm with thunderstorms.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far north on Monday. Possible showers in the far west during Tuesday and Wednesday. Generally warm to hot.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
