MELBOURNE - Jan 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of Adelaide will extend a ridge eastwards across Bass Strait today with another high centre expected to form over the Tasman Sea by tonight. Little change in the pattern is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. The next cold front and associated low pressure trough will enter western Victoria late Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayDry, mild and sunny over the north apart from early morning fogs about the northeast. Scattered showers over East Gippsland becoming isolated and clearing during the afternoon, but fine over the rest of southern Victoria and becoming mostly sunny. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Generally high.Tuesday 15 JanuaryDry and mostly sunny. Warm with light and variable winds inland. Milder near the coast with fresh afternoon seabreezes.Wednesday 16 JanuaryDry and mostly sunny. Warm to hot with light and variable winds inland and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Thursday 17 JanuaryDry and mostly sunny.
