Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure centred near New Zealand extends a ridge over northern New South Wales. A cold front lies near Tasmania in the south, with an associated trough extending through central parts of the New South Wales coast and into the far northwest of the state. Ahead of the trough hot to very hot northwesterly winds with a milder south to southwest change developing behind the trough. The change is expected to stall over northern inland on Sunday with very hot conditions lingering there until Monday before southerlies extend throughout and cooler conditions developing. On Tuesday a high pressure system is expected to develop over the Tasman Sea and and inland trough will linger over the far northwest of the state.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast and the chance of a shower in the southeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot evening in northwest to northeast winds ahead of milder southeast to southwest in the south, and extending through central parts of the coast.Sunday 13 JanuaryMostly sunny and hot to very hot in the western and central inland. Isolated showers elsewhere with the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Areas of dust in the west. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast, south to southeasterly winds in the remainder, extending northwards.Fire Danger -  Extreme Upper Central West Plains, Nth Western; Severe - Very High Rest except SE, SW, central coastMonday 14 JanuaryIsolated showers in the east and in the northern inland. The chance of thunderstorms over the northern ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Milder south to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Tuesday 15 JanuaryIsolated showers on the north coast. The chance of shower or thunderstorms over the northern inland and far northwest. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Wednesday 16 JanuaryIsolated showers in the far north.
