Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough will persist across the far northeast of the State during the weekend, as a high pressure system becomes established south of the Bight. The high will move slowly eastwards to be over the Tasman Sea by Tuesday, ahead of a front approaching the western border late Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine apart from isolated light showers near southern coasts, and possible isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mild about the coasts and South East, grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds in the far northeast, moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Sunday 13 JanuaryIsolated showers developing from the south over the agricultural area during the day, extending into the south of the Pastoral districts from late afternoon. Showers increasing to scattered over the southern agricultural area apart from the Lower South East for a period from mid morning to mid afternoon. Possible isolated thunderstorms in the far northeast after midday. Areas of raised dust over the Northeast Pastoral district from mid afternoon, with fresh and gusty south to southeasterly winds. Cool to mild over the southern agricultural area, grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds in the far northeast, becoming southwest to southerly from mid afternoon. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds over the remainder.Monday 14 JanuaryFine apart from isolated light early morning showers over the Pastoral and Flinders districts south of about Coober Pedy to Marree. Mild about southern coasts grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds and afternoon sea breezes.Tuesday 15 JanuaryFine. Mostly sunny. Mild near southern coasts, otherwise generally hot. Light to moderate southeast to east winds and afternoon sea breezes.Wednesday 16 JanuaryFine. Mostly sunny. Hot grading to very hot in the far northwest. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday evening until midnight Wednesday are expected to be less than 1 mm over the agricultural area and far northeast, increasing to 2 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area apart from the Lower South East.Thursday until SaturdayThe chance of isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Leigh Creek. Isolated showers extending from the west on Thursday, before contracting northeastwards on Friday, to be confined to the northeast on Saturday. Hot to very hot throughout on Thursday, ahead of a cooler, fresh and gusty southerly change in the far west early, extending eastwards to reach the northeast of the State late evening. Cool in the south grading to hot in the far northeast on Friday and Saturday with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Sunday.Product IDS10033
