Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 11/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over far northeastern New South Wales will move slightly to the west today and weaken as a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea strengthens a ridge to the north coast. A cold front/trough system preceded by hot to very hot northwesterly winds will reach the southwest of the state late today, move through the southeast during Saturday, then through central and northeastern parts Saturday night and Sunday bringing a milder southwest change to these districts. Very hot conditions are expected to continue in the northern inland until Monday when there will be a slight cooling trend.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Mostly clear elsewhere. Northwest winds tending northeast along the coast, before a southwest change in the southwest. Possible dangerous surf conditions.Saturday 12 JanuaryThe chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast and the chance of a showers in the far south. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot northwest to northeast winds turning milder southeast to southwest in the south.Fire Danger -  Severe to Extreme in the southeast and central east. Very High in the remainder of the state.Sunday 13 JanuaryMostly sunny and hot to very hot in the western and central inland. Isolated showers elsewhere with the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast . Areas of dust in the west. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast, south to southeasterly winds in the remainder.Monday 14 JanuaryIsolated showers in the east and in the far northern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Milder south to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Tuesday 15 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. The chance of showers in the central districts. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Saturday.Product IDN10031
