MELBOURNE - Jan 10/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will enter the southwest of Victoria this morning before moving across the remainder of the State during the afternoon and evening. A high pressure system is expected to move from Bight waters towards Victoria during the weekend and will extend a ridge across southern Victoria on Monday but the main high will stay to the west on Monday allowing a weak cold front to cross Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the morning rapidly contracting eastwards and clearing in the early afternoon. Hot with a freshening northwesterly wind, strong at times in the south and about the ranges, ahead of a fresh and gusty southwesterly change extending from the west late morning though central parts in the afternoon to the east at night. Milder in the south following the change.Fire Danger - Severe, reaching Extreme in the Wimmera and North Central districts.Saturday 12 JanuaryPartly cloudy with isolated showers in the south, mostly in the morning. Cool to mild in the south, warm to hot in the north with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, freshening about the coast with seabreezes.Sunday 13 JanuaryMostly cloudy with isolated showers. Cool to mild in the south, warmer in the north with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Monday 14 JanuaryIsolated showers in the east, clearing. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day in the south but warmer in the north.
