Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 9/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough lies through northeast parts of the state, and is expected to bring cooler temperatures to the northern coast as it passes through this afternoon and overnight. A ridge of high pressure is expected to extend over southern parts of the state on Thursday, before a high pressure system develops over the Tasman Sea on Thursday and Friday. Hot to very hot conditions are expected to return on Friday as the trough redevelops over the west, and remain on Saturday and Sunday as the next trough moves to the northeast of the state.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPartly cloudy with isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms about the north coast and adjacent east ranges. Mostly clear remainder. Hot to very hot northwesterly airstream in the north of the state ahead of milder southwest to southeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions.Thursday 10 JanuaryThe chance of isolated showers along the north coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated thunderstorms on the northern ranges and coast. Partly cloudy over the ranges and coast. Sunny inland. Hot in the north of the state. East to southeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions.Fire Danger -  Very High: Northern Slopes and North Western.Friday 11 JanuaryThe chance of isolated showers in the northeast and the chance of thunderstorms over the northern ranges and northwestern slopes. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot with winds tending northwesterly over the ranges and inland, and tending northeast on the coast. Dangerous surf conditions.Saturday 12 JanuaryMostly sunny. The chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast and northern inland. The chance of a shower in the south. Northwest to northeast in the north. Southeast to southwest in the south.Sunday 13 JanuaryPartly cloudy with the chance of isolated showers in the east and south, more likely on the southern parts of the coast and near the Victorian border. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast of the state, with south to southeasterly winds in the remainder.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
