MELBOURNE - Jan 9/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight will move east to be over the Tasman Sea Thursday morning. A low pressure trough will develop in the far west Thursday evening, moving across the south of the State on Friday to reach the south of the pastoral districts Friday evening. The trough will linger in the far northeast during the weekend as a new high becomes established south of the Bight. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine evening. Partly cloudy about southern coasts, clear elsewhere. Mild in the south, warm to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 10 JanuaryFine apart from possible isolated showers about the Lower South East in the evening. Warm about southern coasts, hot to very hot elsewhere. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, tending fresh northerly in the far west ahead of a fresh southerly change in the evening. Local afternoon coastal sea breezes.Friday 11 JanuaryDry and mostly sunny. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, lighter in the far northeast, ahead of a milder southerly change extending across western and southern coasts during the morning, extending inland to reach the south of the pastoral districts late evening.Saturday 12 JanuaryAreas of cloud with possible isolated showers southwest of about Nullarbor to Adelaide. Mild to warm about the coasts and South East, hot to very hot elsewhere. Light to moderate northerly winds in the far northeast, moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Sunday 13 JanuaryPossible isolated showers over the agricultural area. Mild to warm about the coasts and South East, hot to very hot elsewhere. Moderate to fresh northerly winds in the far northeast, moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds elsewhere. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm across the agricultural area, although local falls of 2 to 5 mm are possible in the south.Monday until WednesdayMild to warm about the coasts and South East, continuing hot to very hot elsewhere.
