MELBOURNE - Jan 8/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front has cleared eastern Victoria overnight with a cooler fresh southwesterly airstream extending across the State. A high pressure system will move over Victoria on Thursday, reaching the Tasman Sea Thursday night. The next low pressure trough will then move cross the State on Friday, then the next high pressure system will approach southwest Victoria late Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in the south, more frequent about west Gippsland at first this morning but contracting to the coast and clearing during the afternoon. Fine in the north. Cool and partly cloudy in the south but milder and mostly sunny in the north. Fresh southwest to southerly winds, moderating later in the day.Fire Danger - High.Thursday 10 JanuaryFine and mostly sunny until cloud increases from the southwest with a shower or two possible at night. A mild to warm day with light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Friday 11 JanuaryHot with a freshening northwesterly wind, strong at times in the southwest ahead of a moderate to fresh west to southwesterly change extending from the west. Milder in the south following the change. Isolated showers in the south contracting eastwards but remaining mostly dry.Saturday 12 JanuaryPartly cloudy with isolated showers possible in most districts, but mostly dry.
