MELBOURNE - Jan 7/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will move northeastwards across Victoria on Tuesday with a cooler fresh southerly airstream extending through southern areas during the afternoon and across the north by Wednesday morning. The next high pressure system will move over Victoria on Thursday, reaching the Tasman Sea Thursday night. The next low pressure trough will then move cross the State on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated thundery showers contracting northeastwards across southern and northeast districts by early afternoon but remaining mostly dry. Dry, hot and mostly sunny across the northwest with fresh west to northwesterly winds tending southwesterly later. Warm and partly cloudy on and south of the ranges at first but a cooler, fresh and gusty southwesterly change extending eastwards during the afternoon with isolated showers to follow.Fire Danger - Very High, reaching Severe in the north.Wednesday 9 JanuaryIsolated showers in the south, contracting to the coast and clearing during the afternoon. Fine in the north. Cool and partly cloudy in the south but milder and mostly sunny in the north. Fresh southwest to southerly winds.Thursday 10 JanuaryFine. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Friday 11 JanuaryHot with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds ahead of a moderate to fresh west to southwesterly change extending from the west. Milder in the south following the change.
