Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 7/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad low pressure trough extends from northwestern Australia into southern New South Wales bringing hot to very hot conditions to the inland parts of the state. A high pressure system is moving over the Tasman Sea extending a ridge along the coast. On Tuesday a front will sweep across southern and central parts bringing gusty westerly winds and very dangerous fire weather conditions. A southerly change behind the front will bring some relief to southern and central parts late Tuesday into Wednesday however it will remain hot in the north. Hot to very hot conditions are expected to return on Friday and Saturday as the trough redevelops over the west.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdaySunny. Very hot northwesterly winds ahead a milder southerly change in the south, and extending along the southern and central parts of the coast.Fire Danger -  Catastrophic for the Illawarra/Shoalhaven and Southern Ranges. VH to Extreme most other areas.Wednesday 9 JanuaryIsolated showers about the north coast and adjacent east ranges. Mostly sunny remainder. Hot to very hot northwesterly airstream in the north of the state ahead of milder southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 10 JanuaryEarly drizzle possible around central parts of the coast. Isolated showers along the north coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated thunderstorms on the northern ranges. Partly cloudy over the ranges and coast. Sunny inland. Hot in the north of the state. East to southeast winds.Friday 11 JanuaryPossible showers in the northeast and thunderstorms over the northern ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot with winds tending northwesterly over the inland and ranges and northeast on the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDN10031
