MELBOURNE - Jan 7/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak trough of low pressure will linger across eastern Victoria tonight. A cold front will move northeastwards from the Southern Ocean to cross Victoria late on Tuesday and will be followed by a cooler fresh southerly airstream over the State on Wednesday. The next high pressure system will move over Victoria on Thursday, reaching the Tasman Sea Thursday night. The next low pressure trough will cross the State on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayDry throughout. Clear inland with light winds. Becoming partly cloudy in the south tonight with coastal seabreezes easing this evening.Tuesday 8 JanuaryDry, hot and mostly sunny across the north with fresh west to northwesterly winds later tending southwesterly. Warm and partly cloudy on and south of the ranges with isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms during the morning clearing eastwards. A cooler, fresh southwesterly wind extending eastwards during the afternoon with isolated showers to follow.Fire Danger - Very High, reaching Severe in the north.Wednesday 9 JanuaryIsolated showers in the south, contracting to the coast and clearing during the afternoon. Fine in the north. Cool and partly cloudy in the south but milder and mostly sunny in the north. Fresh southwest to southerly winds.Thursday 10 JanuaryFine. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Friday 11 JanuaryHot with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds ahead of a moderate to fresh west to southwesterly change extending from the west.
