MELBOURNE - Jan 6/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak trough of low pressure will linger across eastern Victoria on Monday while a high pressure system moves across Tasmania to reach the Tasman Sea. A cold front will move northwards from the Southern Ocean to cross Victoria late on Tuesday and will be followed by a cooler fresh southerly airstream over the State on Wednesday. A small high pressure system will then cross southern Victoria on Thursday morning. Forecast for the rest of SundayFine. Mostly clear with moderate southeast to southerly winds, freshening at first near the coast.Monday 7 JanuaryFine after local early fog in Gippsland. Hot and sunny across inland areas with light to moderate northwesterly winds. Milder along the coastal fringe with moderate east to southeasterly wind and fresh afternoon sea breezes.Fire Danger - High to very high.Tuesday 8 JanuaryFine during the morning then isolated showers developing over southern areas during the afternoon and evening. Hot and sunny across the north. Warm in the south at first but becoming cooler in the afternoon. Moderate west to southwesterly wind turning southwest to southerly from the west and strengthening in the west and near the coast later in the day.Wednesday 9 JanuaryIsolated showers in the south, clearing during the afternoon. Fine in the north. Cool and partly cloudy in the south but mild and mostly sunny in the north. Fresh southerly winds, slowly easing late in the day.Thursday 10 JanuaryFine.
