MELBOURNE - Jan 4/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is slowly moving east and weakening maintaining a ridge to northwestern New South Wales and directing very hot northerly winds across the inland parts of the state. During today a weak cold front will move across the south of the state but very hot conditions inland will continue as another high moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge behind the front. The next change will move through the state during Tuesday and Wednesday and temperatures inland are expected to become slightly milder. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayThe chance of morning showers on the north coast. The chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms about the southern ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Very hot west of the ranges. North to northeast winds, freshening along the coast in the afternoon, before tending light to moderate southerly on the south coast and in the far southwest.Fire Danger - Very high across state apart from far northeast.Sunday 6 JanuaryIsolated showers along the northern coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms about the southern ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot in the west. Northeast to southeast winds.Monday 7 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, more likely in the north. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot in the west. Southeast to northeast winds on the coast, east to northeasterly inland tending northwesterly in the south.Tuesday 8 JanuaryIsolated showers possible about the far north coast and about the southern coast later. Mostly sunny remainder.
