Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 2/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system off the NSW coast will move slowly east across the Tasman Sea today and Friday. A trough of low pressure will cross the Bight on Thursday then enter the southwest of Victoria on Friday afternoon, moving to central districts at night. The trough will cross the remainder of the state on Saturday but will have little impact on temperatures over northern Victoria. The next high pressure system will develop west of Tasmania on Saturday and pass to the south of Victoria during Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayGenerally hot and sunny with light winds tending northerly. Moderate to fresh afternoon seabreezes developing along the coastal fringe then extending over the southern inland during the evening.Fire Danger -  High to Very HighFriday 4 JanuaryHot and mainly sunny for most of the State with moderate to fresh northerly winds. A dry southwest to southerly change entering the southwest during the afternoon, reaching the northwest and central districts at night. Milder in the south following the change.Saturday 5 JanuaryDry, hot and sunny inland with light to moderate southerly winds. Milder and partly cloudy near the coast with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 6 JanuaryDry, hot and sunny across the north with light to moderate southeast to southerly winds. Isolated drizzle developing over Gippsland, but dry and mild to warm elsewhere in the south with fresh east to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
