MELBOURNE - Jan 2/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move eastwards across southern Victoria overnight and will be centred over the Tasman Sea on Thursday and Friday. A trough of low pressure will cross the Bight on Thursday then enter the southwest of Victoria on Friday afternoon, moving to central districts at night. The trough will cross the remainder of the state on Saturday but will have little impact on temperatures over northern Victoria. The next high pressure system will develop west of Tasmania on Saturday and pass to the south of Victoria during Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayDry tonight. Moderate to fresh southerly winds easing tonight.Thursday 3 JanuaryFine and sunny throughout. Generally hot with light winds tending light to moderate northerly. Afternoon seabreezes developing along the coastal fringe.Fire Danger - High to Very HighFriday 4 JanuaryHot and mainly sunny for most of the State with moderate to fresh northerly winds. A dry southwest to southerly change entering the southwest during the afternoon, reaching the northwest and central districts at night. Milder in the south following the change.Saturday 5 JanuaryDry, hot and sunny inland with light to moderate southerly winds. Milder and partly cloudy near the coast with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 6 JanuaryDry, hot and sunny across the north with light to moderate southeast to southerly winds.
