MELBOURNE - Dec 31/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is centred near New Zealand and is extending a ridge over the New South Wales north coast. A weak southerly change associated with a cold front crossing the far southern Tasman Sea lies from central parts of the coast through to the northwest of the state. The change will change weaken this morning as another high moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge along the southern parts of the state. This high is expected to move over the Tasman Sea by Thursday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayThe chance of late showers on the south coast. Partly cloudy in the east and northeast. Sunny elsewhere. Locally hot inland. Northwest to northeast winds in the far northeast, southwest to southeast in the remainder.Fire Danger - Severe in Sydney and Illawarra. Locally Very High in central and southern parts.Wednesday 2 JanuaryIsolated coastal showers clearing from the south. The chance of thunderstorms on the far north coast. Locally hot in the northern inland. Southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 3 JanuaryThe chance of showers on the north coast. Mostly sunny in the remainder. East to southeasterly winds. tending northeasterly on the south and central coasts.Friday 4 JanuaryThe chance of showers on the far north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
