Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak low pressure trough remains over the western slopes off the northern ranges and is expected to move a little further to the west today. A high south of the Bight extends a ridge over Victoria and northward along the NSW coast. The ridge will strengthen today and overnight with a new high centre developing over the Tasman Sea. The high will move further east Monday with northwesterly winds developing over much of the state and high temperatures inland. The next front/trough system is expected to move through the state during Tuesday and Wednesday though little rainfall is anticipated with it.
Forecast for the rest of MondayThe chance of light showers on the far north coast this morning. Fine elsewhere. Early cloud in the east, and a partly cloudy afternoon in the central north, otherwise mostly sunny. Early fog patches on the eastern ranges. Hot day in the northwest. Northeast winds along the coast strengthening about central parts during the afternoon before a weak southerly change on the south coast. Northwest winds inland turning southwest to southeasterly in the far west.Fire Danger -  Very High in the ACT and parts of SE NSW.Tuesday 1 JanuaryPartly cloudy. Very warm to hot northwest to northeast winds turning southwest to southeast in the west and southeast.Wednesday 2 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, more likely in the north. Very warm to hot in the northern and northwestern inland. Southwest to southeast winds extending throughout by the end of the day.Thursday 3 JanuaryThe chance of showers along the north and central coasts and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny in the remainder. Mostly east to southeasterly winds. tending northeasterly on the southern and central coasts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
