MELBOURNE - Dec 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak low pressure trough remains over the western slopes off the northern ranges and is expected to move a little further to the west today. A high south of the Bight extends a ridge over Victoria and northward along the NSW coast. The ridge will strengthen today with a new high centre developing over the Tasman Sea. The high will move further east Monday with northwesterly winds developing over much of the state and high temperatures inland. The next front/trough system is expected to move through the state during Tuesday and Wednesday though little rainfall is anticipated with it. Forecast for the rest of SundayDrizzle patches on southern and central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges this morning. The chance of isolated light showers on the far north coast. Possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the North West Slopes and Plains district. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeast winds.Monday 31 DecemberThe chance of showers on the far north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Tuesday 1 JanuaryPartly cloudy. Very warm to hot northwest to northeast winds turning southwest to southeast in the west and southeast.Wednesday 2 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, more likely in the north. Very warm to hot in the northern and northwestern inland.
