MELBOURNE - Dec 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over northeastern New South Wales is moving westwards inland as a cold front crosses the southern Tasman Sea and a high pressure system moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge across the west and southeast of the state behind the front. During Sunday the high will move over the Tasman Seas strengthening the ridge to the north coast and the trough will move west and weaken. The next front/trough system is expected to move through the state during Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast this afternoon and evening, mostly in the north of the Northern Tablelands. Fine elsewhere and mostly clear. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout, fresh along parts of the coast.Sunday 30 DecemberIsolated showers on the south coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of showers on the coast and adjacent ranges further north. The chance of showers and thunderstorms on the northwest slopes and plains and northeast of the Upper Western. Partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeast winds.Monday 31 DecemberThe chance of showers on the far north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Tuesday 1 JanuaryPartly cloudy. Very warm to hot northwest to northeast winds turning southwest to southeast in the west and southeast.Wednesday 2 JanuaryIsolated showers along the coast, more likely in the north. Very warm to hot in the northern and northwestern inland.
