MELBOURNE - Dec 27/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea will move towards New Zealand tonight. The next low pressure trough will link with a weak cold front further south and will move through most of the State this evening and overnight, before clearing the far east early Friday. Another high pressure system is expected to cross Bight waters on Friday but is then likely to remain to the southwest of the State during the weekend and into Monday, as a series of fronts passes over Bass Strait and Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over parts of central Victoria and Gippsland and the chance of evening drizzle on the west coast. A cooler, fresh southwest to southerly change extending eastward to reach eastern districts at night.Friday 28 DecemberIsolated showers in southern areas clearing during the morning. Fine over the north. Cool to mild in the south but mild to warm over the north. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Fire Danger - Generally high to very high.Saturday 29 DecemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near the coast. Cool to mild in the south but warm over the north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 30 DecemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near the coast. Cool to mild in the south but warm over the north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Monday 31 DecemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near the coast. Mild to warm in the south but warm to hot over the north.
