MELBOURNE - Dec 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will pass just to the south of Victoria today and will be centred over the south Tasman Sea tonight. The next low pressure trough will move through most of the State on Thursday before another high pressure system approaches from the west during Friday. The high is likely to remain to the southwest of the State during the weekend as a deep low pressure system moves over the Southern Ocean. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayGenerally clear. Light winds inland. Moderate afternoon seabreezes near the coast, easing.Thursday 27 DecemberFine apart from isolated late showers in the Central district and over West and South Gippsland. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds but a cooler, fresh southwest to southerly change extending from the west.Fire Danger - High to very high.Friday 28 DecemberIsolated showers in southern areas clearing during the morning. Fine over the north. Cool to mild in the south but mild to warm over the north. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Saturday 29 DecemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near the coast. Cool to mild in the south but warm to hot over the north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Sunday 30 DecemberFine apart from isolated morning showers near the coast. Cool to mild in the south but warm over the north.
