MELBOURNE - Dec 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over northeastern New South Wales is moving further northeast as a high pressure system moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge along the south and central coasts behind a cold front crossing the southern Tasman Sea. During Wednesday the high will move over the Tasman Sea strengthening the ridge to the north coast and the trough will move west and weaken. Another trough is expected to deepen over the northeast of the state on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMostly clear in the southwest. Isolated showers and/or thunderstorms elsewhere, more widespread and possibly severe about the northeastern inland and on the central ranges in the afternoon. Cooler south to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Wednesday 26 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers along the remainder of the coast, clearing from the south. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Thursday 27 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, Partly cloudy elsewhere. North to northeast winds ahead of a late southerly change in the southwest.Friday 28 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeastern and central parts. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southerly change moving through western, southern and central districts.Saturday 29 DecemberPartly cloudy in the far west and in the southeastern inland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere.
