Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 24/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of the Bight will approach Tasmania late on Christmas Day before reaching the Tasman Sea to the east of Tasmania late on Wednesday. The next low pressure trough will move through most of the State on Thursday before another high pressure system approaches from the west during Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east. Fine elsewhere. Fresh to strong southwesterly winds gradually easing.Tuesday 25 DecemberMild with isolated showers on and south of the ranges during the morning. Fine, warm and sunny in the north. Moderate south to southeast winds, fresh at times about the coast.Fire Danger -  High to Very HighWednesday 26 DecemberMild in the south with isolated morning showers over East Gippsland. Fine, warm and sunny in the north. Light easterly winds inland, moderate to fresh afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Thursday 27 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms but fine over the northwest and far east. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds but cooler southwesterly winds developing from the west.Friday 28 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas clearing during the early afternoon. Cool to mild in the south but mild to warm over the north. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
