MELBOURNE - Dec 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge to the south of the State will move slowly eastwards as a low pressure trough moves in from the west reaching the western border late Saturday evening and extending across the west and south of the State on Sunday, reaching the far northeast of the State during Monday. A high will develop southwest of the Bight on Monday, moving southeastward to reach Tasmania on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPossible isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening over the far northeast corner, and also in the far northwest. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Warm to hot in the south, and hot to very hot in the north and west. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, shifting fresh southerly near the western border towards midnight. Afternoon coastal sea breezes.Sunday 23 DecemberHot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds. Cloud increasing in the south later in the day with a milder moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change extending from the west reaching Ceduna and Port Lincoln by midday, Cleve, Adelaide, and the far southeast by late afternoon, and Woomera to Renmark in the evening. The chance of isolated showers about the Lower South East coast in the evening. The chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms about the northeast corner during the afternoon.Monday 24 DecemberIsolated showers over the agricultural area and west coast. The chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mild about southern coasts, grading to very hot in the northeast. Northerly winds over the Northeast Pastoral , ahead of a gusty southerly change extending northwards. Fresh southerly winds over the remainder of the State.Tuesday 25 DecemberThe chance of an early shower near southern coasts. Possible showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday morning until midnight Tuesday are expected to be less than 2 mm, possibly reaching 5 to 10 mm in the far northeast corner.Wednesday until FridayFine Wednesday. Possible isolated showers in the west and south on Thursday, moving to southern agricultural areas and western coasts Friday. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the north.
