Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will cross Bass Strait to be centred over the Tasman Sea on Saturday. A low pressure trough will develop over the Bight on Saturday and then move eastwards to reach western Victoria Sunday afternoon, central Victoria by Monday morning and extend through the east during Sunday afternoon. The next high pressure system south of the Bight will move eastwards towards Tasmania on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayMostly clear apart from some cloud over Gippsland. Light to moderate southerly winds, fresh about the coast early evening.Saturday 22 DecemberFine. Warm to hot and mostly sunny inland with light winds. Milder seabreezes developing along the coastal fringe and freshening during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Mostly high.Sunday 23 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the east during the afternoon and becoming more widespread about the northeast rangers. Fine and mainly sunny elsewhere until cloud develops from the southwest later in the afternoon. A hot day with freshening north to northwest winds ahead of a milder gusty southwest change, developing in the southwest during the afternoon and extending to southern central areas and the northwest in the evening.Monday 24 DecemberScattered showers and thunderstorms in the east, contracting eastwards with a change during the afternoon. Isolated showers elsewhere, mainly in the south and clearing during the afternoon. Warm to hot in the north and east at first with a moderate to fresh northerly wind. Milder fresh and gusty southwesterly winds across the west extending throughout by the evening.Tuesday 25 DecemberMild with isolated showers on and south of the ranges, contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Fine, warm and sunny in the north. Moderate south to southeast winds, fresh at times about the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
