Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system moving across Bass Strait will strengthen over the Tasman Sea during Saturday. At the same time, a trough over inland New South Wales is expected to weaken as the high pushes a ridge towards the northern coast. This pattern will result in increasingly hot northerly winds of tropical origin being drawn across the state, with humid conditions leading to unsettled weather in many districts. A cold front is expected to bring a cooler change to southern districts on Christmas Eve, continuing through most remaining areas during Christmas Day.

Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, with generally light and variable winds inland. Dangerous Surf Conditions along the coast.Saturday 22 DecemberScattered showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, possibly extending to the central ranges and slopes in the afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds, tending light and variable in the state's west.
