MELBOURNE - Dec 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will move away from eastern Victoria this morning. A high pressure system located south of the Bight on Thursday will cross Bass Strait on Friday to lie over the central Tasman Sea on Saturday. A low pressure trough will be over the Bight on Saturday but will approach Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms clearing from the east during the morning. Isolated showers to follow in the south but clearing in the early afternoon. Mild in the south but warmer over the north with moderate to locally fresh southwesterly winds.Fire Danger - High in the north.Friday 21 DecemberFine. Mild and partly cloudy in the south, warm and mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate southerly winds and freshening afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 22 DecemberFine. Warm to hot and mostly sunny inland with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon. Becoming milder near the coast with moderate to fresh afternoon seabreezes developing.Sunday 23 DecemberMostly fine and hot. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the northeast during the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers developing in the southwest later.
