MELBOURNE - Dec 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front and associated trough are expected to cross much of New South Wales on Thursday, before weakening in the northeast of the state on Friday. A high pressure system will build over the south of the state on Friday following this trough, before moving across the Tasman Sea towards New Zealand over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the south, clearing. Possible afternoon thunderstorms about the central ranges and coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Hot northwesterly winds ahead of a cooler southwest to southerly change extending through southern, western and central districts. Areas raised dust in the west. Dangerous Surf Conditions developing along the coast.Fire Danger - Severe: Greater Hunter Very High: Greater Sydney, ACT, Illawarra; ranges and coast, northern inland.Friday 21 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms from the northern inland through to the northern coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.
