MELBOURNE - Dec 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough will continue to move across the State to reach the far northeast this evening. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Thursday and will then move slowly eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea on Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayCloud and associated isolated showers contracting to pastoral areas. Possible isolated thunderstorms about the Pastoral districts and northern agricultural area. Warm in the north with moderate northwest winds. Milder southwesterly winds extending northwards to reach the far northeast this evening.Thursday 20 DecemberIsolated thundery showers over the pastoral districts and northern agricultural area, clearing by sunrise. Possible isolated showers about southern coasts in the early morning. Possible afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mild about the coast, warm to hot inland. Moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh about parts of the coast during the afternoon.Friday 21 DecemberFine. Mild about the coast, warm to hot inland. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Saturday 22 DecemberFine. Warm to hot in the south, grading to very hot in the north. Light to moderate northeasterly winds, freshening in the west.Sunday 23 DecemberHot to very hot initially with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds. Cloud increasing in the south during the day with isolated showers possible over southern coastal areas later in the day following a milder southerly change moving over the agricultural and western areas during the day. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop about the northeast corner during the afternoon. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be less than a few millimetres.Monday until WednesdayPossible isolated showers and thunderstorms extending along the northern border early next week. Isolated showers developing over agricultural areas on Monday, extending to most parts and increasing to scattered showers at times in the southeast. Winds shifting fresh to strong southerly during Monday.
