MELBOURNE - Dec 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough extending from Eyre Peninsula to Kangaroo Island will continue to move across the State to reach the far northeast this evening. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Thursday and will then move slowly eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea on Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers extending across most districts during the day, excluding eastern parts of the North East Pastoral. Showers increasing to scattered about central and southeastern parts. Possible early morning thunder about western and southern coasts. Possible isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening about the Pastoral districts and northern agricultural area. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northwest winds, ahead of a milder southwesterly change extending from the west and south to reach the far northeast by evening.Thursday 20 DecemberIsolated showers over the pastoral districts clearing by sunrise. Possible isolated showers about southern coasts until evening. Possible showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mild about the coast, warm to hot inland. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Friday 21 DecemberFine. Mild about the coast, warm to hot inland. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Saturday 22 DecemberFine. Warm to hot in the south, grading to very hot in the north. Light to moderate northeasterly winds, freshening in the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning until midnight Saturday are expected to be generally 1 to 5 mm, increasing to local falls of 5 to 10 mm in the far north, possibly reaching 10 to 20 mm with thunderstorms.Sunday until TuesdayPossible isolated showers and thunderstorms persisting about the far northeast corner, then extending along the northern border early next week. Hot to very hot throughout on Sunday before isolated showers develop over agricultural areas overnight Sunday into Monday, extending to most parts and increasing to scattered showers at times during Monday. Winds shifting fresh to strong southerly during Monday.
