MELBOURNE - Dec 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure across southern Victoria will weaken later today. A cold front will enter western Victoria Wednesday afternoon and reach central districts in the evening before clearing eastern districts on Thursday morning. A high pressure system located south of the Bight on Thursday will cross Bass Strait on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMild to warm and mostly sunny in the north, cooler and partly cloudy in the south. Light westerly winds with moderate to fresh seabreezes developing near the coast.Fire Danger - Locally high.Wednesday 19 DecemberWarm to hot and mostly sunny at first with freshening north to northwesterly winds. Cloud increasing from the west with isolated showers tending to a band of rain near a cooler, gusty west to southwesterly change developing in the west during the afternoon and extending to central and eastern areas later. Isolated thunderstorms possible near the change.Thursday 20 DecemberAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms clearing from the east by early afternoon. Isolated showers to follow in the south, mainly in the morning and the evening. Mild in the south but warmer over the north with moderate to locally fresh southwesterly winds.Friday 21 DecemberIsolated morning showers near the central and western coasts. Mild and partly cloudy in the south, warm and mostly sunny in the north.
