MELBOURNE - Dec 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge extending over South Australia from the southeast will move eastwards during Tuesday. A low pressure trough will develop over the far west late Tuesday then move eastwards to reach the the far northeast of the State later Wednesday. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight during Thursday and will then move slowly eastwards to be centred over the Tasman Sea late Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers and possible thunderstorms in the far north. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing west of Ceduna, with isolated showers possibly extending to southern coasts in the evening. Fine over the remainder. Mild to warm about southern coasts, hot elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, becoming fresh northerly in the west ahead of a fresh southerly change in the far west later.Wednesday 19 DecemberIsolated showers extending across most districts during the day, excluding eastern parts of the North East Pastoral. Showers increasing to scattered about Kangaroo Island and the South East. Possible isolated thunderstorms about the North West Pastoral and southern parts of the North East Pastoral districts, the ranges north of about Clare and across the Riverland and Murraylands. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northwest winds, ahead of a milder southwesterly change extending into the North East Pastoral district by evening.Thursday 20 DecemberIsolated morning showers over the northern agricultural area and the pastoral districts. Possible isolated showers about southern coasts until evening. Possible showers in the far northeast. Mild about the coast, warm to hot inland. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Friday 21 DecemberFine apart from possible showers in the far northeast. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds. Mild about the coast, warm to hot inland. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday morning until midnight Friday are expected to be generally 1 to 5 mm, increasing to local falls of 5 to 15 mm in the far north and possible falls of 15 to 25 mm with thunderstorms in the far north.Saturday until MondayIsolated showers possible in the far northeast, developing about the west of the State on Sunday and extending to most parts and increasing to scattered showers at times on Monday.
