very warm to hot in the south.

with showers, rain areas and thunderstorms will extend from the northwest to the
southern interior and spread eastwards during the day. Isolated showers or
thunderstorms over the northern tropics. Isolated showers and patchy rain areas
near the southern coast, increasing from the west late in the day with a few
thunderstorms also possible. Day time temperatures trending below average over
the interior due to the increased cloud.
Forecast for Friday
The surface trough is likely to remain near the southwest Queensland border,
while the upper trough will likely move slowly eastwards over central and
southeast Queensland. The cloud band with showers, rain areas and thunderstorms
will remain through areas from the northwest to the southeast. Isolated showers
over the tropical coast. Day time temperatures generally below average over the
interior due to the increased cloud.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday

Australia. A new high moving into the Tasman Sea is expected to extend a ridge
and onshore winds over eastern Queensland during the weekend. The upper level
trough is likely to move slowly over the tropics, accompanied by a band of
showers, rain and thunderstorms with moderate to locally heavy falls. A humid
and unstable environment is likely to persist over the remainder of the state
with isolated showers and thunderstorms, contracting to the north of the state
on Monday. Day time temperatures trending below average over the interior and
southeast due to the increased cloud.
