MELBOURNE - Dec 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough lies over northeastern New South Wales. The trough will weaken during Tuesday and Wednesday a high pressure system moves over the southern Tasman Sea extending a ridge to the north coast. Another trough will move through west and and southeast of the state on Thursday and it is expected to stall over the northeast on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers on the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges and clearing showers on the far south coast. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms on the far north coast and ranges. Mostly clear west of the Divide. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Tuesday 18 DecemberIsolated showers along the northern coast and adjacent ranges with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. mostly sunny elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds along the coast, south to southwesterly winds inland.Fire Danger - Very High in Northern Slopes and NorthwesternWednesday 19 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Possible showers in the far southwest. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot day in the west. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Thursday 20 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast and on the south and central coasts and on adjacent ranges. Isolated showers in the southern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Hot northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change in the west and southeast.Friday 21 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast and isolated clearing showers on the south and central coasts.
