Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough is pushing a southerly change along the northern New South Wales coast, but is expected to weaken and stall near the Queensland border later today. Meanwhile, a high centred near Adelaide extends a ridge across the south and will move slowly to the southern Tasman Sea during the next few days, bringing a return to northerly winds in most areas by Wednesday. Behind this high, the next cold front from the Southern Ocean is forecast to reach the far west on Wednesday, extending through most districts on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and drizzle patches along the coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny west of the Divide. Northeast winds on the far north coast. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending through the remainder, fresh to strong along parts of the coast.Fire Danger -  Very High: Far North Coast, Northwest Slopes and Plains, Northern Tablelands.Tuesday 18 DecemberIsolated showers along the northern coast and adjacent ranges with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds along the coast, south to southwesterly winds inland.Wednesday 19 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Possible showers in the far southwest. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot day in the west. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Thursday 20 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east, possibly heavy about the western slopes of the northern ranges. Generally fine in the west though isolated showers over the southern inland and near the Queensland border. A hot day in the northwest and most central districts. Northerly winds before a cooler southerly change moves through western, southern and central districts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
