Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high centred over the Bight will move slowly eastwards to reach the Tasman Sea by Tuesday. A trough of low pressure will move over western parts of the State late on Tuesday then extend across central and eastern parts on Wednesday. A new high pressure system will move over the Bight on Thursday and Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine apart from possible isolated light showers about Kangaroo island and the Lower South East coast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the far northwest. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far north with light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Tuesday 18 DecemberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the northwest. Isolated showers developing west of Ceduna with possible evening showers about the west coasts of Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island. Fine over the remainder. Mild to warm grading to hot in the north with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, tending northerly in the far west ahead of a late southerly change about the far west coast.Wednesday 19 DecemberIsolated showers extending across most districts during the day apart from central parts of the Northeast Pastoral. Possible thunderstorms north of about Clare apart from the Northeast Pastoral north of Leigh Creek. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh northwest winds, ahead of a cooler southwesterly change extending into the Northeast Pastoral district by evening.Thursday 20 DecemberIsolated morning showers over the northern agricultural area and the pastoral districts, south of Coober Pedy. Possible isolated showers about southern coasts until evening. Mild on the coasts, warm to hot inland. Moderate southwest to southeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday morning until midnight Thursday are expected to be generally 1 to 5 mm, with local falls of 5 to 15 mm possible with thunderstorms in the far north of the State.Friday until SundayFine apart from possible isolated showers developing in the far west during Sunday. Mild in the south grading to hot inland on Friday, becoming hot to very hot throughout by Sunday. Mainly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Monday.Product IDS10033
