MELBOURNE - Dec 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure will extend across southern Victoria on Monday and Tuesday. A low pressure trough will enter the State from the west on Wednesday with a cold front to cross Tasmania on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayFine over the northern plains. Isolated showers over southern and mountain areas mostly clearing tonight. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Monday 17 DecemberIsolated showers near the coast and in the far east, otherwise fine. A cool partly cloudy day in the south but milder and mainly sunny in the north. Moderate southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger - High in the north.Tuesday 18 DecemberFine. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light to moderate south to southeast winds.Wednesday 19 DecemberFine at first but scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing in the west during the afternoon and extending to central and eastern areas later. A warm to hot day with a freshening northerly wind ahead of a cooler west to southwesterly change in western and central areas during the afternoon and evening.Thursday 20 December Scattered showers becoming isolated and contracting to southern and mountain areas during the day. Mild in the south but warm over the north. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.
